Vice President of Compliance and Quality

 

The VP of Compliance and Quality is a very important role for the AEB.  This individual must have high integrity, strong attention to detail, be able to deal with conflict reasonably, and communicate effectively.  A large responsibility of this individual will include ensuring compliance with FDA and Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) regulations for the operations of the AEB and overseeing all FDA and EBAA inspections.  The VP of Compliance and Quality must be able to for see things before they happen, think on his/her feet, and be flexible.  This individual will be a part of the leadership team discussing each week the direction and flow of the company.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with FDA and EBAA regulations for all AEB operations
  • Oversee FDA and EBAA inspections
  • Report adverse reactions and CAPA (Corrective Action Preventative Action)
  • Review written reports on validations, audits, supply and equipment verification and calibration
  • Maintain SOP (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Review and sign off donor charts
  • Oversee training procedures

 

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communicator
  • Experience in medical field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science related field
  • Previous quality improvement experience preferred
  • Experience in project and personnel management required
  • 5-10 years of experience with FDA compliance or Joint Commission

Additional Information

DAY IN THE LIFE/SCHEDULE

  • Reviewing compliance documents for accuracy
  • Determining plans to address deficiencies or prevent them
  • Communicate regularly with leadership team
  • Submit necessary information to different agencies
  • Could be some nights and weekends

Annual compensation: 

  • $75-80K/yr
  • Monthly and end of year bonus potential up to 15K

CURRENT OPENING IN BIRMINGHAM, AL

Partner Relations Manager

The Partner Relations Manager is a great opportunity for the right leader.  This individual needs to have strong written and verbal communication skills, be able to multi-task, think strategically, and manage projects.  Some of the responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships with hospitals, providing in-services to hospital staff, participate in meetings, as well as some marketing/event planning.   The Partner Relations Manager will be the face of the AEB, interacting with a diversity of individuals while continuing to grow the eye donor recognition, referral and recovery.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify individual hospital needs and preferences and then create goals and objectives for each hospital in the area to increase awareness and educate hospital staff on eye donor process
  • Interpret and analyze data from each hospital
  • Build strong relationships with hospital staff
  • Communicate regularly with key account personnel and AEB staff
  • Review medical policies concerning the referral or procurement of tissue in hospitals
  • Participate in Donor Council Meetings
  • Manage projects – social media, website, newsletters, event planning
  • Attend a few conferences each year

 

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communicator
  • Experience building relationships both internally and externally
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications
  • A nursing or medical/pharmaceuticals background preferred

Additional Information
DAY IN THE LIFE/SCHEDULE

Each day could look very different.  This role could be completed out of a home-based office.  However, majority of this role will be spent in local hospitals building relationships and providing in-services to the hospital staff (75% out building relationships; 25% emailing and creating reports).

  • Participate in meetings.
  • Reporting hospital data to each account.
  • Manage social media, website, newsletters, and event planning.
  • May have occasional weekends or nights.

 

Annual compensation:
$45-50K/yr
Monthly and end of year bonus potential up to 10K

Alabama Donor Services Referral Coordinators – Full Time and Part Time

Alabama Donor Services provides call center services for the Alabama Eye Bank and the Alabama Organ Center. We have two immediate openings for full-time and part-time Referral Coordinators.

 

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Answer, respond to and document all incoming donor referral calls in a timely manner
  • Triage referral calls as appropriate for organ, tissue and eye potential
  • Coordinate logistics of donation recovery with internal and external contacts

 

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated professional with these qualifications:

  • RN or BS, preferred
  • Minimum of at least 1 year of call center experience, preferred
  • Ability to interface with peers and hospital personnel on assignments
  • Excellent telephone, communication, and customer service skills
  • Basic knowledge of pharmacology / medical terminology
  • Basic knowledge of patient confidentiality laws

CURRENT OPENING IN BIRMINGHAM, AL

Medical Chart Review Specialist

The Medical Chart Review Specialist is responsible for conducting a medical review of potentially transplantable donor charts. The individual needs to have solid written and verbal communication skills, be able to multi-task, and have strong analytical skills.

 

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide follow up on Donor Risk Assessment Interviews, autopsy reports, physician and medical records
  • Consult with attending physician, Medical Director and Infectious disease Specialist to determine tissue suitability
  • Perform donor file status reviews to ensure that all pertinent documentation has been included

 

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated professional with these qualifications:

  • RN or BS, preferred or equivalent experience
  • Ability to interface with peers and hospital personnel on assignments
  • Excellent telephone, communication, and customer service skills
  • Basic knowledge of patient confidentiality laws
  • Position will require weekend and evening work on occasion

Recovery Coordinator – Full Time

Immediate opening for a rewarding job that can help make a difference in the lives of others. This critical role ensures safe and viable eye tissue to be used in transplant, research and education.

 

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Recovery of transplant and research donors
  • Perform laboratory corneal excisions, sclera preservation and corneal sections
  • Process incoming donor charts
  • Package and ship ocular tissue
  • Perform laboratory duties as necessary

 

Qualifications for the position include but are not limited to:

  • RN or BS in life sciences, preferred
  • Ability to interface with peers and hospital personnel
  • Position will require some weekends and nights
